Homemade Marshmallows Recipe

Homemade Marshmallows are such a cute treat to share and melt so much better than commercial marshmallows, especially in a cup of hot chocolate!

  • 1/4 cup Corn Syrup

  • 1/2 cup Water

Recipe Steps

  • Mix 6 packets of Gelatin and 1/c cup of Water into mixing bowl. Allow to sit for ~10 minutes

  • Separately in saucepan, mix 1 3/4 cups of Granulated Sugar, 1/4 cup Corn Syrup, and 1/2 cup of Water. Bring to boil, stirring occasionally, until mixture gets to 245 degrees Fahrenheit. Remove from heat.

  • Start mixing Gelatin mixture and add cooked sugar mixture in slowly. Add pinch of Salt.

  • Continue mixing until the mixture has grown 2x-3x in size, is no longer translucent, and is stringing from the side of the bowl like marshmallow

  • Add 2 tsp Vanilla extract and 1 tsp Almond extract. Mix together.

  • Pour marshmallow into a heavily-greased pan (you DON'T want the Marshmallow sticking!) and allow to set for 3-6 hours.

  • Cut into squares. Cover marshmallows in Powdered Sugar (I like to put the powdered sugar into a gallon-size ziploc and shake it all up to coat all sides). Marshmallows will keep a few weeks if kept in closed container/bag.

  • ENJOY!
